Turquaz Residence

Balanced Aesthetic

This project encompasses the interior architectural concept and staging for a model apartment within the Turquaz Residence, located in Accra, the capital of Ghana.

The interior concept was developed following an extensive analysis of local preferences and the diverse cultural tastes inherent to the Ghanaian market. The scope included the comprehensive design of all standard fixtures and architectural elements, such as the kitchen cabinetry, interior doors, skirting, wardrobes, bathroom vanities, flooring, wall treatments, and suspended ceiling systems.

To address the regional climate—characterized by an average temperature of 32°C and high humidity year-round—material selection focused on textures conducive to tropical living. While ceramic flooring is the traditional local standard, this project introduced climate-resilient engineered wood parquet to infuse the space with organic warmth. The color palette emphasizes a balanced aesthetic through a foundation of cream, earth, and beige tones, punctuated by strategic accents of high-gloss burgundy and terracotta to elevate the spatial energy.

Kitchen: A Space for Shared Living

The character of this kitchen is defined by a bold palette of appetizing red, focus-enhancing white, and boundary-defining black linear accents. To mitigate visual weight and maintain an airy atmosphere, transparent seating was integrated to reduce the massing of the dining set.

The sharp-lined dining table serves a dual purpose, functioning as the primary axis that dictates the kitchen's operational flow. In programming the kitchen's functions, a minimalist and clean-lined aesthetic was prioritized, engineered to conceal utility-related clutter within integrated storage systems to preserve a serene, uncluttered environment.

Ethno-Modern Style

For the master suite, the bed frame, headboard, workstation, and library were custom-designed and fabricated to create a cohesive architectural language. The material palette juxtaposes rich velvet and leather with high-gloss lacquer and polished ebony wood textures. Neutral beige tones serve as a sophisticated foundation, complemented by accents of deep burgundy—a hue specifically selected for its local cultural resonance.

The oversized headboard, with its bespoke dimensions, functions as a standalone sculptural element within the room. To maximize utility, the leather-topped workstation features an integrated flip-top surface, allowing it to transition seamlessly into a vanity desk. The lighting scheme supplements the homogeneous ambient illumination from the suspended ceiling with a series of custom local lighting fixtures, offering multiple atmospheric configurations.
